As Head of Office and representative of UNHCR in the UAE responsible for GCC partnership, fundraising, and engagement, she recruited and led a large team of professionals, support staff, and interns that prepared for a multi-country fundraising and communications drive to elevate the cause of refugee aid in the GCC region. She initiated a mapping exercise to record and analyze engagement with the UN in general and UNHCR in particular over the years, as well as a field study on misconceptions and reputational risks the UN suffered in the region. She led a public campaign and launched UNHCR’s first Arabic website, managed an engagement outreach to ladies from the royal families of the GCC, and secured interest and engagement across the board, appearing in hundreds of interviews and speaking in a multitude of events across the region, including a close engagement with the police force in the UAE for training on international humanitarian law and asylum seeker and stowaway management. She also engaged with art galleries and collectors for optimal engagement in humanitarian events.
